As a Black Christian Professional or Entrepreneur, the loss of a loved one can drastically disrupt your life. You feel disconnected from yourself, your family and friends, your career, or even your business. You don’t seem to be getting the support you need from your loved ones. I've created a safe and supportive space for you to process your loss at your own pace. Together we will work through the intense emotions and help you overcome the obstacles of your grief.
The therapeutic relationship is a core element of your progress and it is important for you and I to meet weekly. I’ve found that clients who are invested in their goals and are ready to commit to weekly sessions can establish a relationship with their therapist and progress better. If progress is made, you and I can discuss the next steps toward your treatment goals, and how to move forward to biweekly sessions or terminate therapy. If you value growth and are ready to invest in your healing work, I am here to help.
If suicidal thoughts are present, Call 911 immediately or have someone take you to the nearest emergency room if you are worried about yourself or a loved one taking their own life.
If you are currently experiencing a severe mental illness or active substance abuse we recommend you seek outpatient services at a local program.

I am an Out-of-Network provider that bills you directly. Meaning you will pay the full fee directly for each session. Depending on your current insurance it is possible for your therapy sessions to be covered in full or in part by your insurance provider. I encourage you to contact your insurance to find out exactly what they are willing to cover.
Accepted Payments

In Network (Insurance-Pay)
I do not take health insurance. I can provide you with a receipt (superbill) upon request for you to submit to your health insurance for Out of Network reimbursement. The amount you will be reimbursed will depend on your health insurance policy.
If you do call your insurance to discuss coverage, be prepared to ask the following questions:
Do I have mental health or behavioral health out-of-network benefits for outpatient settings?
What is my deductible? Has it been met?
How many mental health sessions does my plan cover annually?
Do you cover telehealth or have any stipulations on it?
How do I obtain reimbursement for an out-of-network mental health provider?
What will the coverage amount be per session?
Please Note: Comfort Counseling Center cannot guarantee that your insurance plan will cover sessions.
The Benefits of Having a Private Practice Therapist
I offer highly specialized support in specific areas, and I’m dedicated to providing personalized, in-depth support as a private practice therapist. This means I work with a limited number of clients, allowing me to fully invest in each individual’s therapeutic journey.
By managing a small number of clients, I avoid burnout and devote 100% of my energy to the individuals I work with. My approach is designed to give you my undivided attention, free from the restrictions and timelines that often accompany insurance coverage.
Insurance companies typically determine coverage based on what they consider medically necessary, often placing limits on the number of sessions and requiring adherence to regulations more suited to physical health. Insurance companies take control of your healing journey and has limiting privacy.
Therapy, however, is a private, intimate journey meant to remain confidential. These limitations don’t align with the collaborative and personalized nature of therapy. When you work with me, your therapy experience is not confined by timelines, diagnoses, or labels.
I prioritize providing an exceptional level of care for each client I work with. During our sessions, you have my complete attention—no rushing, no distractions. I keep track of the important details in your life, like the people who matter and special dates.
This personalized approach is possible because I intentionally limit my caseload, allowing me to focus on each client without the pressure of juggling dozens of appointments. I simply cannot support and encourage you to live intentionally while neglecting my own health.
My choice to remain out-of-network with insurance providers is intentional. I believe in the value of therapy and I am committed to fostering meaningful connections with the amazing people I serve. By focusing on quality over quantity, I can help create healthier communities, nourish intimate relationships, and support your healing—while staying true to my values.
In short, I do not accept insurance, as this allows me to provide the focused, uninterrupted care that my clients deserve.
